Speaking Engagements
I enjoy giving talks in front of large or small groups. I use slides of Pakistan, Tibet and other locations to discuss the process of allowing oneself to step into a new place.
People really seem to enjoy hearing about visiting exotic and sometimes hazardous parts of the world from the perspective of the neophyte, because it allows them to more fully identify with the activity. After all, it IS something they can do.
I try to make my discussions interactive, interesting, humorous, and motivating. The bottom line is that almost ANYONE can do things that seem to be ouside their limits. If the group is small I try to get each person to talk about things they have always wanted to do but never attempted. In my discussions individual goals are not confined to outdoor adventure.
If you would be interested in obtaining references and discussing a possible speaking engagement please send me an email. I will respond as soon as I can.

"Trekking With The Mountain Wizards"
The Outdoor Neophyte hosts the Women of Austin, Nevada and nearby Ranches to a slide presentation of highlights from her trips to Tibet, K2, the Afghanistan border of Pakistan and the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.
Part of the direction of this presentation is to share the story of her outdoor experiences, as well as, gather stories from other women in the audience. A parallel focus of the discussion centers on research Elizabeth is currently doing: "Retired from Active Duty...Motherhood." It seeks to explore the trends women's journeys are taking once the nest becomes empty. The study concentrates on Nevada, especially the three towns of the Silver Triangle: Austin, Virginia City and Tonopah.
Teton Recreation Center, Jackson Hole, Wyoming. May 24, 2001, 7 P.M.
